Starting at 9am on Saturday morning, fans will watch the ice racers roll out onto the massive ½ mile ice track for the first time during their morning practice. Ice racing fans will see who has the speed to run at the front of the pack and likely have a chance at the 2010 championship in their respective classes. Qualifying will start at 11am and go until 2pm, at which point the track will get a good grooming before the finals. The Main Events will start shortly thereafter (approximately 2:15pm) and will finish around 4pm.
On Sunday, Racing will start with practice at 9am and finish with final races and awards at 5pm.
While the ice racers get there practice in throughout the early morning, Pat Milbery and his band of happy campers will start hitting the park at 10am. This 4 hour clinic is open to anyone who loves snowboarding and would like to hang out with a group of professional snowboarders who are all about having fun and teaching kids why snowboarding is one of the best winter sports in the world! No matter what skill level you are; if you want to learn something new in a safe and fun environment -then be sure to get signed up before all spots fill up!
If camper registration is filled for Saturday, or perhaps Saturday just doesn't fit into your schedule, don't worry because Pat and his fellow coaches will be holding a second snowboard camp on Sunday from 9am to 12 noon.
Another fun event that will be starting late in the morning is the 2010 "Yamafest" Demo ride. That's right, starting at 11am, you can walk over to the Yamaha rig and test ride any of their awesome sleds from a full line of new fuel injected Yamaha four stroke snowmobiles. This event will be happening throughout the day and is open to anyone that is 16 and older. These new Yamaha snowmobiles are ranked #1 in reliability, fuel economy, low emissions, and as you'll soon find out, they're also some of the most comfortable and fun snowmobiles you'll ever ride. In order to be eligible to ride, you must be at least 16 years or older, have a parent present if you are under 18 years old, wear a helmet, and have a valid drivers license.
Yamafest will be open all weekend, including Sunday starting at 11am.
On Friday we will be having the Friday Night Open Ride on the brand new 2010 Freeze X Fest Rail Jam Park. The open ride will be available to anyone with a snowboard or a pair of skis, and a craving for some tasty jib action. Come out and practice your tricks and lines to get an edge on the competition or just come out to have a fun session with you and your friends. Entry is only $10 and the course is open from 6pm - 9pm. For your own safety, helmets are required to ride the rail jam park.
Right after the Mighty Midwest Snowboard Camp ends on Saturday, some of the best amateur snowboarders and freeskiers in Michigan will hit the park as the USASA Rail Jam gets underway. Following the hour-long practice session, riders will be split into groups and begin their respective qualifiers at 3:30pm. For the créme de la créme that make there through qualifying, finals will begin at 6pm and is sure to be one heck of a show. In fact, with over $2000 in cash prizes on the line, these young shredders know that only their A-game will do if they want to win big at Freeze X Fest.
At the end of the Mighty Midwest Camp on Sunday, the Freeze X Fest will be holding another rail jam called the FXF Jib Jam at 12 noon. Much like the USASA rail jam, riders will ride qualifiers in order to get into the finals, as well as compete to win another $2000+ in cash and prizes. But that's not all because all riders who make it through to the finals will get a chance to ride with Pat Milbery and his crew of professional boarders in the Red Bull Winch Session! The winch session will start immediately after the FXF Jib Jam awards ceremony (3:45pm) so that riders get a chance to catch there breath before riding with the big boys from Colorado at 4: 15pm.
With ice racing coming to a close and the USASA Rail Jam qualifiers still going, Jimmy Blaze and his crew of freestyle snocross daredevils will break out their tricked out sleds and start their show at 4pm. Watching these guys hang off 500lb snowmobiles 40 feet off the ground is insane, and back-flipping one is just plain nuts, but these guys are for real and were a big crowd favorite at the 2009 Freeze X Fest. Being that the 2010 Freeze X Fest is right before the 2010 Winter X Games, we have a feeling that Jimmy Blaze and his crew will have something special lined up.
New for this year, the Otsego Club and Resort is hosting a never-before-seen aerial showdown of boards and sleds going head-to-head on two huge snow doubles, smack dab in the middle of the Freeze X Fest event grounds! On Sunday at 2pm, fans will watch these two groups of athletes going trick for trick, in a fight to see who can go the biggest for the Freeze X Fest crowd. The winner will be crowned the Otsego Snow Slam Champ. But we're not done yet, because once the pros are done duking it out, they're going to reward you (the fans) by throwing out all kinds of prizes!
Just when you thought a Saturday couldn't get any more exciting, the Freeze X Fest crew went and planned an outdoor FXF after party! Then again, the party won't exactly be "outdoors" because just inside the huge 4,800 square foot heated hospitality tent we're bringing you a night of live music, great drinks, and the kind of fun atmosphere that only the Freeze X Fest can deliver. Enjoy a night of hanging out with friends, Freeze X Fest athletes, a live DJ, and Soaring Eagle's full service bar made completely of sculpted ice! Entry is free and guests 21 and up get a wrist band for bar service.
